I woke up early in the morning and expected today’s track to be quite flat. But there were always a few hills that slowed me down and the wind was most of the time blowing from the front. But the scenery was simply stunning. It started with a beautiful valley with a green stripe in the center where rice was planetd and this was surrounded by beautiful rocky mountains in brown and brown-green.
At a fuel station I was served Turkish tea and got some food. Later I stumbled upon a automobile corso of several hundred cars which were participating in a rallye for a party – seems there will be elections very soon here in Turkey.
The river turned into a big lake with a beautiful road attached to the side. I got the chance to pick up two turtles from the street and put them some meters away – one was actually hit by a car but seemed to be ok.
In the evening I saw a even stranger animal walking over the street (see picture).

You are so kind to move turtles away cars , but they will be more thanks if you brought them to travel several kilometers instead of moving by themself.
I thought they would not be happy to lose their family
Wow, following your tour distracts me quite a bit from work – and I’m in the final phase of my thesis…! But it’s good to have something exciting to look forward to! And this is my cycle tour across the Alps in August! I just can’t await it while snooping through your site!
I’m really excited how you’ll get along in Iran and later! Have ever been there before? And I have to study a map, because I have no idea where to avoid the giants of the Himalaya!
Anyway! Good ride!
Hallo Daniel,
@Mathis: Cycling the Alps is really really nice! I am in Erzurum rihgt now which is located on 1850m but the mountains around are all brown, by far not so green like in the Alps – hope you will have a great time there!
I have not been further away from Germany than southern Turkey until now – so Iran will be a totally new experience and also the former Soviet countries *stan
@Schlossgeister: Hey, schön von euch zu hören! Liebe Grüße und fahrt viel Fahrrad!
